Bosses warned to maintain a happy workforce

Employers are being warned to make sure their staff are happy after new research revealed that many use bank holidays as an opportunity to look for other jobs.

A survey by Monster.co.uk found that nearly half of the 735 respondents might search for another job, while 33 per cent said they definitely would, according to Onrec.com.

Jenny Ungless, Monster's life coach, says the bank holiday period allows employees to reflect on their career paths and bosses must make sure they are happy.

"People use their weekends to recover from the week at work, catch up with chores, see friends etc, the bank holiday Monday gives them that extra day to take stock and consider issues such as job satisfaction, career progression etc," she told the site.

The results were compiled from responses by visitors to the site between April 14th and 27th.

Monster offers employment resources for both job seekers and businesses looking to recruit.
