Customer care improvement sought to boost Glasgow bus services

Extensive staff training and customer care improvement are two of the measures being implemented to bring bus services up to scratch in Glasgow.

Local authorities have threatened to ban operators from busier routes if improvements are not made as part of a wider plan to get more people using public transport, thereby cutting congestion and boosting air quality.

"This seeks to improve accessibility to bus transport, reduce journey times, increase frequency and reliability and raise service quality in terms of bus fleets and customer care," Robert Booth, land services executive director, remarked to the city's Evening Times.

He explained that better punctuality and reliability will also be targeted through training to facilitate the provision of a more efficient, effective and accessible public transport system.

Earlier this month, public sector officials in Durham revealed that rigorous training and attention to customer care improvement resulted in an 'excellent' rating from the Audit Commission for their organisation.

Representatives for Wear Valley district council told 24dash.com the judgement reflected their determination to "play to people's skills".ADNFCR-1303-ID-18633838-ADNFCR
