Customer service training essential for Super Bowl service

When the Super Bowl comes to Arizona in February, customer service training will ensure that visitors are treated well.

The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee is working to ensure that retail workers, hotel clerks, bus drivers and others have studied up on ways to help customers, the Arizona Republic reports.

Doug MacKenzie, director of communications at the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau, commented: "The training is geared to the front-line people, because they are the first people that a visitor sees. Really, they are the face of the tourism industry."

It is expected that 125,000 visitors will turn up for what is the biggest date on the American sporting calendar.

Debbie Johnson of the Valley Hotel and Resort Association said that good customer service is vital for business, and that "one incident could cost the state convention business or a family's vacation dollars".

The Super Bowl is the championship game of the NFL American football league.
