Govt promotes staff training amid downturn

The government is to launch a major advertising campaign to promote staff training, despite the current economic conditions.

Its Train to Gain service, which offers funding for some training, will promoted on television at popular viewing times.

The secretary of state for innovation, universities and skills John Denham said offering staff training is "essential" for companies.

He added: "Research shows that companies which don't train are twice as likely to fail as those that do."

Earlier this year, a study released by performance measurement company Grass Roots called for banks to train staff and invest in their skills to help aid consumer trust.

It said trust created by customer care is vital, adding banks must offer exemplary service at every customer interaction if they are to maintain loyalty.

The company concluded that banks which invest in frontline staff and work to develop them will be in the strongest position to retain client business.ADNFCR-1303-ID-18880126-ADNFCR
