Customer service training: Glasgow Housing Association wins award

23 June 2009

An organisation has been given a prize recognising its high levels of consumer care, highlighting the value of customer service training.

Glasgow Housing Association has won the Customer Service Excellence award for public sector bodies and will be used as an example of best practice for other bodies, the Evening Times reports.

Martin Armstrong, executive director of housing services at the group, identifies the launching of a 24-hour contact centre and a new complaints procedure as being important developments.

He states: "We are delighted that the massive improvements which our staff have worked hard to deliver for our tenants in the last year have been recognised."

John Wood, assessor of customer service excellence, claims that he has been impressed by the group's employees.

Admitting that the organisation is not perfect, he says that its track record shows that it will know how to respond to any problems that do emerge, the news provider reports.

Food development manager at Warner Leisure Hotels David Grindrod recently attributed his firm's Red Tractor accreditation to the high level of consumer care it provides.
