Customer service training: Govt improves consumer care
25 August 2009
The government has made a larger leap in consumer care than any other UK organisation, a study suggests, highlighting the value of customer service training.
Satisfaction with these departments has increased considerably in the last six months, the Institute of Customer Service reports.
Among the highest ranking departments is the Ambulance Service, followed by GP surgeries and the Post Office, while local government was the worst.
Robert Crawford, the organisation's executive director, claims this emphasises the importance of consumer care, which could highlight the value of customer service training.
He says: "The public sector has long had a poor reputation for its treatment of customers but good progress has been made here."
Mr Crawford says that there remains work to be done and highlights the need for further improvements at the local government level.
In other news, Public Servant Scotland magazine has revealed that Glasgow City Council is to give community enforcement officers customer service training to help them interact with tourists and visitors.
GA Training has a number of customer service training courses which are available on both a public and in-house basis. Suitable for both the public and private sectors GAs customer service course solutions have been helping individuals and organisations to provide exceptional levels of service for over a decade.
