Customer service training: New campaign includes consumer care pledge

15 July 2009

Among the goals of a new campaign to save local shops is a drive to keep consumer care levels high, emphasising the value of customer service training.

The Shop At My Local project, which is being spearheaded by Rochford District Council, will involve businesses pledging to meet a number of requirements, Echo News reports.

As well as high levels of customer service, participants will be expected to use more locally-sourced produce and to support making the neighbourhood cleaner and greener.

Jennifer House, the local authority's economic development officer, tells the news provider that the results of customer service training can be vital to small firms.

She states: "Town centres that survive in the future will need to provide a unique social experience to see off the threat of out-of-town supermarkets and internet shopping."

In other news, the Evening Times has reported that the Glasgow Housing Association has won an award for its high levels of consumer care, highlighting the value of customer service training.

GA Training has a number of customer service training courses which are available on both a public and in-house basis.
