Customer service training: UK 'best in the world for consumer care'

Many Brits rate the UK's level of consumer care the best in the world, a new survey has found, highlighting the value of customer service training.
Research by the Institute for Customer Service (ICS) has also found that the top ten performing businesses across all sectors are John Lewis, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer's food stores.
The businesses whose customer service training placed them next in the ranks were Mazda, RAC and the rest of the Marks & Spencer group.
"The new tourism sector scores a very respectable 77 for complaint handling, while at the bottom of the league public services (national) comes out the worst," the ICS claims.
Customer service training has resulted in satisfaction with the banking sector rising, while overall satisfaction with consumer care across all businesses has increased.
In other news, nominations for the 2009 North East Contact Centre Awards are still being invited, which will include awards that will recognise strong levels of customer service.
