Customer service training: Worker shortlisted for Call Centre Hero prize

05 June 2009

Customer service training has been highlighted as important preparation by a worker from Angus who is nominated for an award for overcoming nervousness to deliver excellent consumer care, a source reveals.

Ashley Black, information advisor at Journeycall, told the Brechin Advertiser that when he joined the firm he was too scared to even phone and order takeaways or book appointments.

He added: "Obviously that has changed a bit since I started this job!"

Mr Black has been nominated for the Call Centre Hero awards 2009, which recognise the effects of customer service training in the workplace.

Trisha Pirie, deputy managing director at the firm, expressed her pride at both Mr Black and a colleague's recommendation for the prize.

She told the news provider: "We wish all good luck to both Karen and Ashley and very well done for making the shortlists."

Recently, a campaign was launched calling for consumers to take photos of those employees they deal with who are particularly helpful, celebrating their achievements and the effectiveness of customer service training.
