Customer service training: York Council receives consumer care accreditation

Customer service training has been highlighted by an accreditation given to a local authority for its high levels of consumer care.

Workers at the City of York Council have reached the government's Customer Service Excellence level, The Press reports.

Its environmental health, trading standards, licensing and bereavement service has received the accolade for its open culture, insight into consumers and excellent leadership.

Colin Rumford, head of environmental health and trading standards, describes the organisation as "delighted" at the news.

He states: "The award is testament to the hard work and dedication of all the staff, who work hard to put customers at the forefront of everything they do."

Prime minister Gordon Brown wrote a letter to the team congratulating them on their achievement, the news provider reports, highlighting the advantages of customer service training.

Wycombe District Council recently signed a deal with Northgate Public Services to improve consumer care in the region.
