Customer service training 'can boost consumer care'

17 June 2009

A lack of customer service training could be one of the main reasons that businesses are suffering at the moment, a commentator claims.

Michelle Samuels, writing for the Examiner, says there are a number of factors that contribute to poor performance in this area, including an absence of motivation and an unhelpful attitude.

She highlights a lack of customer service training as one of the key problems, calling on staff to ask themselves what a consumer's incentive to return is.

"You also need to make sure that your staff is properly trained, motivated and has the right type of personality for the job," she asserts.

Ms Samuels tells the news provider that companies should not just wait for products to sell themselves but must provide passionate treatment to ensure nothing is left to chance.

A report by Crone Corkill recently advised businesses to offer more customer service training to office support staff, as it has discovered a decrease in the number of opportunities they have to take part in these programmes, Onrec.com revealed.

GA Training has a number of customer service training courses which are available on both a public and in-house basis.
