Customer service training to benefit from £20k grant
29 July 2009
The government has earmarked £20,000 to support businesses in Halstead, Witham and Braintree, including customer service training, a source reveals.
A government grant has supplied the money, as well as a further £20,000 that will be used to promote retailers in the district, the Gazette reports.
In addition to customer service training, the money will be used to establish business networks, promote events and attract new firms to the area.
District promotions manager at Braintree Council Chris Trim tells the news provider that it is hoped the grant will encourage more people to visit the region.
He states: "A local campaign will focus on the reasons to shop and think local, like better customer service, lower travelling costs and great bargains."
In other news, industry expert Vincent Deschamps has claimed that customer service training can be a strategic weapon for businesses, allowing them to gain an advantage over their competitors.
