Devon council employees scoop customer service training awards

22 October 2007

Several members of Devon County Council have been awarded Institute of Customer Service (ICS) awards for their skills, the Mid Devon Star reports.

Barbara Hambleton, Sue Rook, Simon Kitchen, Tim Duxbury, Natasha Kitson and Judith Davey were all presented with innovations awards.

This group undertook customer service training for eight months for the ICS awards, and were offered the choice of three different awards depending on the nature of their work: communications, solutions or innovations.

Hazel Skinner, a librarian at Tiverton Library, was awarded with the communications award.

Councillor Des Hannon presented the awards to the hardworking individuals at the Devon County Council Customer Service Centre in Tiverton.

Distance learning, including courses run by ICS and the Open University, is an effective way of improving employee skills.

The Open University covers areas including business and management training, education and teacher training, environment, health studies, social sciences, law and criminology and continuing professional development, with courses for various levels.ADNFCR-1303-ID-18326517-ADNFCR
