Exeter retailers have customer service training
30 October 2007
Retailers in Devon will be able to take part in customer service training at a series of workshops in the county town, Exeter.
As Christmas approaches, it pays for staff to finely hone their customer service skills so as to attract and retain clientele looking for Xmas gifts.
Now the Exeter Retail Skills Partnership has organised three events over the next few weeks that will allow independent shops to compete with larger branded stores. Savvy shop owners up and down the country will be ensuring their own staff receive customer service training themselves.
The partnership's Trevor Hooper commented: "Exeter is back on the map as the place to shop. The city has caught the imagination of many and reports suggest that all are benefiting from the increase in the number of shoppers. Exeter has a rich and thriving shopping experience to offer.
"With the growth in competition, affluence and disposable income, differentials such as price, quality and service are losing their ability to provide a competitive edge.
"Increasingly, the customer experience is what will see both new customers and a loyal and growing customer base."
Training is important to ensure that staff remain motivated and feel as if they are progressing along a career path.
