GoSkills looks for re-licensing
21 January 2008
The sector skills council (SSC) for passenger transport, GoSkills, is looking to gain re-licensing.
Its chairman, Nick Mitchell, will make this a priority when the Commission for Employment and Skills takes over responsibility for overseeing the UK's 25 SSCs, Personnel Today reports.
He will continue to push for GoSkills as a resource for skills issues such as customer service training.
"We have a new commission coming into operation this year and it needs to know what we have achieved and what we plan to do in relation to the challenging Leitch skills agenda," he said.
"We must also ensure effective implementation of the sector skills agreement and continue to promote GoSkills' mission to be the first port of call on skills issues in passenger transport."
Mitchell is formerly an HR director at transport operator Go-Ahead Rail Group and Virgin Trains.
