London's friendliest taxis 'due to customer service training'
28 May 2009
London's taxis have been voted as having great customer service and being the best in the world.
The drivers were picked as the best by 1,400 travellers who gave their opinion in the Hotels.com survey, beating off New York's famous yellow cabs.
But John Thomas, chairman of the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association, said the key to the high client satisfaction is down to customer service training.
"London's taxi drivers must dedicate three years to completing the knowledge training to qualify as a London taxi driver and that commitment is vital to offering the very best customer service," he added.
Mr Thomas said it is this fact which makes the London drivers stand out from their New York or Paris counterparts.
However, despite being the friendliest, London taxis were pinpointed as the worst value for money.
Paris cabbies were found to be the rudest, meaning they may need some customer service training, while New York had the worst drivers.
Taxi drivers in Ireland will now have to take a new skills test which will help them to deliver customer satisfaction, among other things, after the Commission for Taxi Regulation introduced the new test.
From difficult and demanding customers through to more routine interactions GA Training's customer service training will ensure that whoever you are dealing with and in whatever situation a consistent and exceptional level of service are always the norm.
