Stoke-on-Trent Council invests in customer service training
22 June 2009
A council has launched a scheme designed to improve its consumer care provision, highlighting the importance of customer service training.
Stoke-on-Trent's local authority will be reorganising its departments in order to focus on this aspect but will also work to upskill front-line employees, The Sentinel reports.
Jeanette McGarry, director of housing, environmental and neighbourhood services, says that this initiative will lead to a more helpful service for residents in the area.
She tells the news provider: "We need to make sure we understand and meet local needs and make sure our staff are well trained and fully equipped to carry out their roles."
Ms McGarry says that at present there is room to boost consumer care but that with customer service training the council hopes to improve the standard across the whole region.
Shahid Malik, communities minister, recently called on local authorities to invest in customer service training in order to meet users' expectations.
GA Training provides a wide variety of customer service training courses to both the public and private sectors which help you identify and then exceed the needs and expectations of your customers, providing exceptional service consistently each and every time.
