'Talent management boosts employees'
07 March 2008
Good talent management has all-round benefits for employees, a study has shown.
A report by the Kenexa Research Institute (KRI) showed that measures such as goal development, regular feedback from managers and progress tracking have a positive effect on employee job satisfaction and motivation, reports Management Issues.
Based on a survey of staff from Brazil, China, Germany, India, the UK and the US, the report concluded that across all six countries, organisations which focused on talent management had employees who were more satisfied with their work.
In addition, employees who appreciated talent management efforts made by their organisation were found to have higher opinions of their managers.
The survey found, however, that only a quarter of staff interviewed believed their employer provided them with enough guidance.
Jack Wiley, executive director at the KRI commented: "People have a fundamental need to know how they are doing and what the future holds for them.
"It's simply part of who we are, organisations that understand this and have the process in place to make it happen have an advantage over their competitors."
The survey's findings concur with recent research by Investors in People which found that less than a third of UK employees have complete trust in their managers.
