51% of firms 'want to target their training more effectively'
06 April 2009
Half of companies want to target their training programmes more effectively in order to get the highest return on their effectiveness, an organisation asserts.
The Confederation of British Industry's (CBI's) Emerging Stronger: The Value of Education and Skills in Turbulent Times shows 40 per cent of companies are worried about their staff's abilities to communicate.
Richard Lambert, the organisation's director general, claims the survey has identified the key skills development worries organisations have.
He states: "This survey shows that they are most concerned with getting more value from their training, to ensure they are better placed for an upturn when it comes."
Andrew Fitzmaurice, chief executive of Nord Anglia Education, describes training and development as remaining "vital".
In other news, Josh Bersin, president of Bersin and Associates, recently told TrainingZone.co.uk that leadership training could help drive organisational change and involvement.
He states that this can help instil the company's strategy in its high-fliers and improve engagement.
