Alpha-male handling 'should be taught in coaching training'

23 March 2009

Training for coaches should include information on ways of effectively developing alpha male-type employees with leadership potential, an expert asserts.

Dr Ho Law, a chartered occupational psychologist and author of the Psychology of Coaching, Mentoring and Learning, tells TrainingZone.co.uk that with successful coaching, these individuals can be particularly successful.

He suggests that alpha males are often unaware of their weaknesses and the need to address these, with this being a key point which needs to be brought up.

"They would benefit by the facilitative coaching approach to help them take into consideration ideas from other members of the team," he tells the news provider.

Dr Law highlights emotional intelligence as a key area where coaching can benefit these employees, which could be developed by trainer training.

Joe Hoare, a laughter facilitator, recently told the website that trainers should use humour as a way of engaging their audiences and adding excitement to sessions.ADNFCR-1303-ID-19087955-ADNFCR
