06 May 2009
Change management training is essential for human resources departments, an organisation asserts.
Research by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) shows that professionals in this area highlight effective management of change, strategic thinking and business knowledge as the key skills essential to companies.
Organisation and resourcing adviser at the CIPD Rebecca Clake highlights the demands that the current economic climate is making of companies and human resources departments.
She states: "It's important that human resources people develop a skill set which equips them to deal with the challenges of the current economic environment and for preparing their people and business for the future."
In total, 55 per cent of heads of this function identified strategic thinking as crucial, with 47 per cent suggesting that effective management of change was most important.
Two fifths highlighted the importance of influencing and political skills.
Recent research by CIPD found that leadership training could be vital for companies aiming to improve its team's efficiencies.
