HR people influence leadership development
04 February 2008
Leadership development is one area where human resources employees have a big impact on business performance, according to a new survey.
Development of management can include performance management training, and other areas where HR people have influence are organisational effectiveness and performance evaluation.
However, it was in talent management that they have the most say, according to the Taleo study, seen by Personnel Today.
On the whole, HR people were confident that their budgets would rise this year, in spite of fears over a global recession. This is because there is no sign of the war for talent ending.
"HR is experiencing sustained pressure to recruit and retain the best people in a market where staff are increasingly calling the shots," said a Taleo spokesman.
The survey found that three in ten HR managers said staff retention was their main challenge for 2008.
