Half of resignations 'due to management style clashes'

16 March 2009

A new study has shown that almost half of employee resignations are due to disagreements with management styles, emphasising the importance of training in this area.

BT Business' report suggests that presenteeism, in which team leaders place their staff under close supervision, is noted as a particularly unhelpful approach.

Robin Mackenzie, marketing director of the company, claims it is important that management training instils the value of having faith in the workforce.

He states: "Things have to become much more collaborative and trusting, and managers then have to trust their people to then deliver on the things that they're there to do."

Emphasising the development of suitable communication styles which do not require the physical presence of the parties, Mr Mackenzie says technology can provide these solutions.

Jeff Schmitt, writing for Sales and Marketing, recently highlighted the importance of management training developing executives' people skills.

He claimed that teaching assertiveness could lead to business teams improving their performance.ADNFCR-1303-ID-19076562-ADNFCR
