Leadership training 'must enable managers to direct their firms'

02 March 2009

Leadership training must enable companies to establish a direction for the company, an expert asserts.

Joyce Harper, founder and chief executive officer of Sharper Solutions, tells Manage Smarter that the top-down format of this message should enable departments to align themselves with the firm's goals.

She claims the process of vision-sharing is "purposeful", providing measurable outcomes and tangible results, which emphasises leadership training in this area.

Highlighting the importance of commitment to employee engagement, she tells the news provider this must be built into the business development process.

Ms Harper states: "Companies that are serious about delivering a unified message throughout the organisation should be mentoring and training future leaders."

She warns the source that organisations should not to take their executives' skills for granted in this area and advises them to take action to guarantee their development.

The author of Authority on Attitude, Sam Glenn, recently told the news provider that management training should incorporate elements of employee morale-raising if performance is to be maximised.ADNFCR-1303-ID-19053104-ADNFCR
