Line management training 'crucial for firms' performances'

Line management training is essential for ensuring that employees perform at a high level, an expert asserts.

Dr John Philpott, public policy director at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), states that executives and leaders who are highly skilled are better suited to their roles.

He asserts that they are more likely to adopt smart working practices, which will have an impact on the achievements of their team.

"The importance of training line managers will also be crucial to building the resilience needed to emerge in good shape for recovery," he adds.

Dr Philpott says these members of staff have a crucial role to play in providing on-the-job learning and ensuring that the skills development needs of their workers are met by the company.

Last month, CIPD learning, training and development adviser Claire McCartney emphasised the importance of line management training to building resilience in businesses.
