Management training: 55% of firms developing talent in-house
12 February 2009
More than half of UK companies have begun to develop more talent in-house, which could include management training initiatives, new research shows.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has found one in five businesses are placing a higher emphasise on identifying, developing and retaining their talent.
Claire McCartney, the group's organisation and resourcing adviser, claims it is important firms invest in employee development.
She states: "It's essential that organisations support and empower managers to manage and motivate employees."
Ms McCartney claims training in this area can help to differentiate organisations and ensure they thrive.
The CIPD found six per cent believe their management training has left executives equipped to "a great extent", with 13 per cent believing they are "not equipped at all".
Earlier this month, Rachel Clake, also speaking on behalf of the organisation, claimed effective leadership was one of the factors which helped companies through the disruptive weather during February.
