Management training 'aided firm's retention'
22 August 2008
Training engineers in management has made a big difference to retention for one firm.
Bharat Electronics explains it hopes to recruit a further 400 engineers this year, adding it needs to recruit top performers if it hopes to compete with global competition.
Retaining such key members of staff means developing and training them, M L Shanmukh, the firm's director of human resources, tells the Business Standard.
Courses offered to employees will include management training.
Recently, Deloitte found a number of business owners are prioritising training, recruitment and performance management over the next few months.
It reported many entrepreneurs see these areas as key for growing the business.
Tony Cohen, the firm's head of entrepreneurial business, said bosses recognise there is a lot at stake.
He added: "It comes as no surprise that their greatest financial investment for the year ahead will be in recruiting and training the right people to help grow the business."
