Management training 'must highlight directing change'
03 March 2009
Management training must highlight the skills needed to successfully implement change in companies, a commentator asserts.
While planning is helpful, the most effective way to restructure businesses is to "get stuck in", Management Today claims.
He says the risks of this can include procrastination and warns that even a perfect plan will not remain so once implementation begins.
According to the news provider, creating ownership is a key step to change management as it improves engagement and can lead to long-lasting modifications of behaviour.
Highlighting the importance of resistance, it states that this can help inform and guide the process.
"Letting sceptics air their views and addressing their concerns will bring them on board," the source reports.
Joyce Harper, chief executive officer and founder of Sharper Solutions, recently told Manage Smarter that leadership training can prepare managers to direct their firms.
She suggests vision-sharing can provide measurable outcomes and tangible results.
