Management training 'must highlight transition skills'

07 May 2009

Management training must emphasise the importance of dealing with transition and change, an expert asserts.

Mary Donato, president of Applied Principles and associate director of the Institute for the Study of Business Markets, tells Manage Smarter that many people are not fully equipped to deal with these alterations.

She emphasises openness and communication as the key to helping people accept the changes required as part of the transition process, which could require training to foster.

"All eyes will be on you to see how you'll react to new situations. Get answers to questions being raised, send out FAQs, and identify training requirements if new processes need to be learned," she tells the news provider.

Ms Donato advises businesses to involve employees with the process and enable them to see the reason for changes, the expected outcomes and the methods that will be deployed to achieve this.

Earlier this week, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development emphasised the importance of offering change management training.ADNFCR-1303-ID-19158818-ADNFCR
