Management training needed for SROs, survey suggests
13 May 2009
Many of the senior responsible owners (SROs) in charge of projects do not believe they are being given the necessary management training to do the job, a study shows.
Research by Moorhouse Consulting finds that half believe there is a lack of skills among people in their teams.
Paul Mansell, speaking on behalf of the organisation, says this highlights the fact that SROs are in a particularly difficult position at the moment.
He states: "[Many] feel they are not getting the right training and support needed to do the job and there is a clear question mark over whether their respective programme teams have the required capability to deliver."
Mr Mansell says that many SROs are put in the position where they are expected to lead without experience of these positions and are not provided with management training.
TrainingZone.co.uk recently reported that Michaela Loughney, consultant with In Equilibrium, has claimed that management training must teach staff to display resilience.
