Managers are 'more necessary' when it comes to flexible working
29 April 2008
Bosses in the UK are scared that the increase in the number of people working from home could put their own positions under threat, it has been claimed.
According to reports from Personnel Today, managers have a set way in managing their subordinates and are generally hostile to any change in that routine.
In response, ClickAJob chief executive Yngve Traberg, has claimed that beliefs that bosses jobs could be under threat are incorrect, and that in fact, the opposite is true.
"The crucial part is managing work-flow so that deadlines are met and productivity continues uninterrupted. Which probably means managers are more necessary, not less," he said.
Mr Traberg stressed that if managers have control of the situation then it is no different than working with offices in other countries.
The UK National Statistics Agency claims that up to three million people work from home while another million do so 'occasionally'.
