Many training courses ?outdated?

30 April 2008

A new study has revealed that many businesses’ training schemes are “outdated” and ought to be reconsidered.

The Developing a Corporate Learning Strategy report by Professor Colin Coulson-Thomas found that a significant number of training courses are out of date and that new methods aimed at “transforming the performance of key work groups” can provide better returns, TrainingZone.co.uk reports.

“Insufficient effort has been devoted to business development, knowledge creation, ebusiness, entrepreneurship and generating incremental income streams,” he claimed.

The expert suggested that although resources are set aside for “general empowerment, quality, teamwork, motivation and leadership” training, other requirements are “overlooked”.

Consequently, trainers could make a “more strategic contribution” to their businesses’ overall objectives, Professor Coulson-Thomas told the newsprovider.

In related news, employment website ClickAJob’s chief executive Yngve Traberg claimed earlier this week that given the need to manage work-flow and meet deadlines, managers are currently “more necessary” than before.
