Performance management training 'could boost productivity'
01 June 2009
Performance management training could play a key role in helping to boost the productivity of a company's staff, an expert asserts.
Wendy Blake Ranken, human resources consultant and author of the Good Guide to Employment, tells the People Bulletin that these form "the nuts and bolts of staff development and performance".
Among the areas she suggests performance management training should focus on are the identification of skills and talents that the company can use and finding the development activities they have taken part in since their last appraisal.
She states: "Appraisals are a part of good management practice and don't incur extra costs!"
Ms Wendy Blake Ranken suggests that among the methods that performance management training can take are coaching and mentoring, whether this is a formal or informal relationship.
Dan Woods, chief technology officer and editor at Evolved Technologist, recently claimed that companies must assess each department individually when devising their performance management training.
GA Training's performance management training courses are available on a public or a tailored in-house basis. We help managers to identify and close performance gaps as well as handle all different levels of performance from the "star" to the "plodder" and gives strategies for dealing with the poor performer effectively.
