Train to Gain being used by many
23 October 2007
The Learning and Skills Council's Train to Gain service is being used a great deal by the wholesale and retail sector.
So far more than 7,000 retail employers have displayed an interest in the Train to Gain programme, Training Reference reports.
Jessica Wardle, a spokeswoman for the Skillsmart Retail sector skills council, said: "Skillsmart Retail values the service Train to Gain has to offer retail businesses. It offers employers the opportunity to access training relevant to their business needs and in some instances, funding to support it."
A number of skills broker and learning provider road shows have been held by Skillsmart Retail in order to educate people about the training that is available for those working in the sector.
The sector making most use of Train to Gain is health and social work, with more than 10,000 employers having signed up to it.
Other sectors making good use of it include real estate and manufacturing.
The Learning and Skills Council has the following single goal: "To improve the skills of England's young people and adults to ensure we have a workforce of world-class standard."
