Training motivates employees

25 June 2008

Businesses which provide their employees with training could see a rise in staff motivation, a new report suggests.

A study conducted by the Association of Accounting Technicians shows that among those workers who do not receive training through their work, two in three feel they lack motivation, HRZone.co.uk reports.

However, the report continues, among people who receive training which is at least partly funded by their boss, almost two-thirds describe themselves as motivated and "exceptionally" motivated.

Chief executive of the association Jane Scott Paul states training is "key" to staff enthusiasm.

"It stands to reason that if your employer is willing to invest time and money in your personal development this will create a far more reciprocal relationship," she adds.

The government comments that offering training through work means employers gain a skilled workforce which can be more productive, adding there are schemes in place to help some employers with the cost of such training.
