West Country skills project to continue
28 December 2007
A skills project for the workforce in the south-west of England will continue operating because of the success it has enjoyed.
Known as the Skills Analysis program, it was funded by the European Social Fund and aimed to determine the gaps in skills among older staff members in the West Country, This Is Exeter reports.
The project will continue as Skills Analysis Ltd, and will be a resource for company appraisals and skills identification. It will not be age specific and will be available for all industry sectors.
Chief executive of the Devon and Cornwall Business Council, Jeremy Filmer-Bennett, said: "The Skills Analysis team worked long and hard across the region, encouraging re-evaluation of these workers, using the Skills Analysis Toolkit.
"As a result, the toolkit has generated such tremendous interest that we are in the fortunate position of being able to now market it commercially."
